Sweet and Sour Sauce Recipe

Here is what I made for dinner tonight.

First I put on two cups of rice. Whenever we have a rice main dish, we tend to run low on rice when I make one cup of dried rice for the three of us and I like having left over rice.

Then I cut up half a fresh pineapple, some green bell pepper, some left over boneless cooked pork, and a little bit of baby carrots.

Here is the recipe for the sauce…

Sweet and Sour Sauce I
Description: “An excellent, traditional sweet and sour sauce. It is great served with meatballs, with tempura, or even over rice!”

Yield: 2 cups
Prep Time: 2 Minutes
Cooking Time: 10 Minutes
Attribution: AllRecipes.com

Ingredients:
½ cup White Sugar
⅓ cup White Vinegar
⅔ cup Water
¼ cup Soy Sauce
1 Tbsp Ketchup
2 Tbsp Cornstarch

Directions:
Place the sugar, vinegar, water, soy sauce, ketchup and cornstarch in a medium saucepan, and bring to a boil. Stir continuously until the mixture has thickened.

I put together the sauce real quick and boiled it for a bit. While it boiled, I stirfried the fruit, vegetables and meat until heated through. Then served at the table and each person put their own fruit/veggie/meats on top of their rice and some sauce. Absolutely delicious and a great way to use some left over meat. (Thought I had posted this before, but couldn’t find it. I wish wordpress had a better search feature, unless they do and I just haven’t tried it correctly.)
