Woodman’s wants to go to West Milwaukee
June 23, 2010 | Woodman’s, the Janesville-based grocery chain, is looking at a site in West Milwaukee, southeast of Miller Park, for a third store in the metro area.
Woodman’s has a huge supermarket in Oak Creek and another under construction in Menomonee Falls. The company hopes to open the Falls store on Nov. 1.
The West Milwaukee site is between National and Greenfield Avenues, and west of S. 41st St. But so far, the company hasn’t been able to strike a deal with the multiple property owners involved with the 20 acres, Clint Woodman said.
Woodman talked about the plan in response to my questions. The company has not made an announcement of the plan.
The site now has industrials buildings and a former Sentry store that would need to be demolished if Woodman’s acquired the land. The company is interested in the site because it would be halfway between the Oak Creek and Menomonee Falls locations, Clint Woodman said
There is a Woodman’s grocery store in Rockford, IL which is where most of my family lives. My dad says he loves the store! He said “we need to go at least once when it opens… you will be amazed with what you can find for good prices!” He said this store carries a lot of foods that most of the other grocery stores in the area don’t (i.e. large portions of frozen Mexican foods – authentic or very close to it)
I think we will go try it at least once, to see what all they have compared to Pick ‘n Save, Aldi’s & Piggly Wiggly.
